Guides
How to make a pitch deck, in seven steps.
Most weak decks were designed before they were written. Do it the other way round: get the argument right in plain text, then build slides to carry it.
Fixed prices from $1,500 to $10,000. No calls: everything in writing.
Step 1
Write ten sentences before you open any slide tool
Illustration only. Any figures are invented for this sample slide.
1. Write the argument as ten sentences
Problem, solution, market, model, traction, competition, team, plan, financials, ask. One sentence each, in a document. If the page is not convincing, slides will not rescue it.
2. Turn each sentence into a headline
Each becomes the title of a slide. A headline is a claim, such as "Clinics save six hours a week", not a label such as "Solution".
3. Find one piece of evidence per slide
A number, a chart, a customer quote you may use, a product screen. One per slide.
4. Design simply
- Two typefaces at most.
- One accent color.
- Large type that reads on a laptop.
- Charts with a single figure highlighted.
5. Put the ask in twice
One line near the start so the reader knows what is being requested, and a full slide at the end with the amount and its use.
6. Test it cold
Send it to someone who does not know the business and ask them to tell you what the company does and what you want. Fix whatever they get wrong.
7. Make two versions
One to send, which must stand alone, and one to present, which can carry less text.
Packages
When you want it finished for you.
Each package states what you get, how long it takes and where it stops. None includes a call.
