How it differs
How a climate software deck differs from a general pitch deck
A general SaaS deck argues that a team wants a better tool. A climate software deck often rides on a rule, a cost or a buyer commitment, and investors test whether demand holds if that driver weakens. Readers check that the data would pass an auditor, since reports may be checked like financial statements. They ask whose budget pays and whether the product saves money as well as reports. And they separate software revenue from consulting-style services, which are common in this field.

The questions behind every slide
What readers of a climate software deck ask
Each answer names the slide or document where it belongs. If a question has no home in your deck, the reader will ask it in writing, or stop reading.
- 1
Does the product keep its value if a reporting rule is delayed or withdrawn?
The buyer slide should show an operational or cost reason to buy, not only compliance. Retention by customer type in the appendix supports it.
- 2
Which budget line pays for it?
State on the traction slide whether contracts come from operating, finance or sustainability budgets. Investors ask because it affects renewal risk.
- 3
Would the numbers stand up to an auditor?
The product slide should show the audit trail: calculation logs, methods and who approved each input. A methodology note in the appendix gives the detail.
- 4
How do you handle value chain data from suppliers?
Show the supplier data workflow in one diagram on the product slide, with measured and estimated data labeled.
- 5
What does a customer gain beyond meeting a requirement?
A customer outcomes slide shows savings, avoided costs or new revenue from the data, with the customer type named. Short case notes go in the appendix.
- 6
How long does implementation take, and who does the work?
One line on the product or sales slide states the time to first report and the effort needed from the customer.
- 7
How much revenue is software and how much is services?
Split recurring software and services on the revenue slide. Investors value the two differently.
- 8
What do buyers use today instead of you?
The competition slide should name the real alternative, including spreadsheets and advisory firms, with the reason you win against each.
Headline rewrites
Slide titles that say something.
A reader skims headlines first. A label tells them the topic; a sentence tells them the point. Bracketed figures are placeholders for your own numbers.

Format
Length, versions and appendix

- PDF. Keep the regulatory timeline current before each send, since dates change and investors check them.

- Lead with the buyer and the outcome. Walk through one workflow rather than a feature list.
What belongs in the appendix

- Cohort retention and expansion
- Implementation timeline for a typical customer
- Revenue split by software and services
