How it differs
How a professional services deck differs from a general pitch deck
A general startup deck promises future growth. A professional services deck proves that a firm can be trusted with work today: who will do it, what they have done before, whether they are independent and what it will cost. Panels often score qualifications before discussing fees. If the firm is raising capital instead, investors look at recurring revenue, client spread and how much depends on individual partners, which is a different set of slides built on the same firm story.

The questions behind every slide
What readers of a professional services deck ask
Each answer names the slide or document where it belongs. If a question has no home in your deck, the reader will ask it in writing, or stop reading.
- 1
Are you independent of us and free of conflicts?
The engagement model slide or an appendix page should state independence and any relationships the client should know about.
- 2
Who is the partner in charge, and who does the daily work?
The team slide should name both and show how they split the work.
- 3
What licenses, registrations and insurance does the firm hold?
An appendix page should list them for the selection panel.
- 4
How do you charge, and what triggers extra fees?
The engagement model slide should state the fee basis and what falls outside it.
- 5
How would you take over from our current provider?
The approach slide should include a transition plan with steps and dates.
- 6
What technology do you use, and how is our data protected?
An appendix page should summarize systems and data security.
- 7
Can you give references from similar work?
The sector experience slide should note that references are available, with contacts provided on request.
- 8
If the firm is raising: how much revenue recurs, and how dependent is it on individual partners?
The financial section of the raising version should show recurring revenue and client spread by partner.
Headline rewrites
Slide titles that say something.
A reader skims headlines first. A label tells them the topic; a sentence tells them the point. Bracketed figures are placeholders for your own numbers.
