Consumer app pitch decks led by retention.
Consumer investors have seen downloads bought and lost. They want people coming back, a growth channel that is not only paid, and a way to earn.
Fixed prices. No calls: you brief us in writing and comment in writing.

How it differs
How a consumer app deck differs from a general pitch deck
A general startup deck can lean on customer interviews and contracts. A consumer app deck lives on behavior data, and investors read it for habit: do people come back, how often, and without being paid to? Downloads and signups count for little on their own. Readers want cohort curves that level off, frequency through the week and growth that does not depend wholly on ads. Monetization can come later, but the deck must show a believable path to it and an awareness of app store and platform risk.

The questions behind every slide
What readers of a consumer app deck ask
Each answer names the slide or document where it belongs. If a question has no home in your deck, the reader will ask it in writing, or stop reading.
- 1
Does the retention curve level off, and when?
The retention slide should show cohort curves long enough to see whether they flatten. Monthly cohort tables in the appendix give the detail.
- 2
How many days a week do engaged users come back?
A frequency chart showing how many users are active one to seven days a week sits beside DAU and MAU on the engagement slide.
- 3
How much growth is organic?
The growth channels slide should split organic, referral and paid installs over time, so investors can see whether organic growth holds as paid spend rises.
- 4
Are newer cohorts better or worse than older ones?
Overlay recent cohorts on older ones on the retention slide. It shows whether product changes are working.
- 5
Was there a launch or press spike, and how many of those users stayed?
Mark launches and press moments on the growth chart and show who remained after. Honest notes on the chart build trust.
- 6
What early action predicts that a user will stay?
A product slide can name the first-session action most linked to retention. It shows the team understands its own data.
- 7
How much do you earn per active user?
The monetization slide should show revenue per active user, or the pricing tests and results if you do not charge yet.
- 8
What depends on app store rules or platform changes?
A risk line names reliance on store policies, ad tracking rules or a single platform, and what you do about it.
Headline rewrites
Slide titles that say something.
A reader skims headlines first. A label tells them the topic; a sentence tells them the point. Bracketed figures are placeholders for your own numbers.

Format
Length, versions and appendix
- Length
- Commonly 10 to 14 slides, since consumer investors tend to read quickly.
- Send-ahead version
- PDF sized for a phone screen, with charts readable without zooming.
- Presented version
- Open with the user and the moment of use, then retention. Screens support the story but do not lead it.
What belongs in the appendix
- Monthly cohort table
- Engagement frequency chart
- Installs by channel over time
- Monetization tests and results
- Additional product screens
